When I started this movie / tv series review category for Capricorn Science I had missed the part that the writing would involve content that could give the story away. Therefore, I find myself writing about something that I can’t “tell”. Odd and challenging yet here we are.
The first post of this series was about “ Mystery Murder”, a movie which I likeD. After starting to view its new sequel “Mystery Murder 2” I turned it off after 10 minutes. Too stupid even within its type. They need to get rid of the director which allowed, otherwise great, Jennifer Aniston to use her hands like Chinese fans all over the place. Shame. UNWATCHABLE.
Another series with the same misplaced sequel effect is “The Chronicles of Riddick” which I love and have seen many times. Vin Diesel is unique and credible. The settings and special effects are superb, the girl-interest is gorgeous and the story keeps you watching without blinking. The sequel, “RIDDICK” is a “DON’T BOTHER WATCHING”. I watched it until the end waiting for the good stuff. It never happened. Everything that I’ve mentioned which was wonderful about the original Chronicles of Riddick was lacking in this plain banana “RIDDICK”. It places four or five guys locked in two spaceships fighting out a story we’ve seen a thousand times. “What happened Vin? We need more than your gorgeous biceps and quirky manly voice. Try again. I’ll wait. (Smiling.)
Another Vin Diese movie whichl is just superb in is “XXX”. Hot and bothered with a wonderful story. WATCHABLE.
Speaking of a faulty story, the jury is still out on the “Requiem” series. A mystery, the old fashion type. The castle, the beautiful girl, the conflicts, the death by unknown hands or creatures with horrible extremities, secret doorways. The problem, in my opinion, is that the story tries too hard and gets lost within itself. Drama needs to land when it needs to land. They failed that important mark. My tongue gets hairy. Do watch it but bring water.
I ventured into watching “Click Bate”, a series. It was good and even great at times. The story is well written, unexpected, the acting and settings are great. Again, a good story pulls you in, slams your butt on a seat and entrances you. . No dry tongue here. WATCHABLE.
“CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR” is totally WATCHABLE. It’s based on a true story and needs to be watched to the end where the lesson we needed to learn is shown at last! It’s terrific. Everything about it. Bring wine. Enjoy.
Another six-chapter series you need to put everything down and go watch is “ ALIAS GRACE” One of my all time favorite actresses, the glorious Anna Paquin has one of the primary roles. All the actors are superb, the setting is perfect and the story carries all the way to the other side of being alive. One of the aspects that I will need to address in writing for this movie review category is each movie’s tempo. If you are addicted to a constant adrenaline rush this tempo is real time, not slow, but nothing is blowing up, aside from your imagination. So put that loud violent expectation aside and sit and watch. It’s worth every second. I will be watching it again and again. Bring a sandwich. “WATCHABLE’.
The sequel to “CROUCHING TIGE, HIDDEN DRAGON” , titled “SWORD DESTINY ”is totally WATCHABLE. Everything about it is just gorgeous. I’m a fool for endings. If the last morsel isn’t better than the first, I become an ungrateful guest. If I don’t like the ending I forget the movie or series ever existed. I somehow become insulted. Without giving anything away please do yourself a favor and watch this beautiful movie. It descends and then elevates to far away place we didn’t know we had hidden. Could it be the hidden dragon within?
So far today we’ve covered eleven movies/ series. It should keep you busy until the next time. Stay tuned. More coming up shortly. Enjoy.
Thank you for reading.
