Just moments ago, around 7:00 AM. I had the honor and the privilege of watching NASA’s live stream of the James Webb Telescope launch. I’ve been following and studying the James Webb Telescope for some time now and fascination does not even start to describe the emotion, expectation, and hope this wonderful endeavor has brought to my life.

Ten thousand professionals, thirty years in time, and ten billion dollars have been the road that came together and paved this 13.5 billion light-year trip that the James Webb Telescope will cover in a journey that started just a couple of minutes ago.

If you have the time and inclination to research this extraordinary telescope and how it will travel back into the time to when our Universe was dark and record what it “sees,” please do so, you won’t be disappointed.

As the crew present at the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guinea was working on the launch, they were interviewed while a video voice-over detailed the events taking place, phase by phase. The components to be mixed to create the force to lift off the telescope awakened me to the reality that, in fact, they were mixing a bomb. One miscalculation and oh, wow, boom, in a bad way. Happily, hard work and resources came together to a perfect event. Liftoff was perfect.

Congratulations to NASA and the incredible crew that worked until they dropped and created this situation where we can finally travel in time. They have made me very proud. Merry Christmas.
