January 6th, 2021 delivered a live televised attempt to topple the United States government. We sat and watched, in horror and fear, how armed militia broke into the Capitol with the intent to assassinate many of our legislators, who at the time, were in joint session for the final ballot count that would and did declare Joe Biden the new president of the United States. This mob had direct orders to apprehend and assassinate Vice President Pence for his failure to declare the election null.
Thanks to the guts and savvy of Capitol Officer Eugene Goodman, who misled the mob away from the the legislators, was their lives spared. The ballots to be counted were also secured. Without these ballots we would face havoc of a new kind.
While this drama unfolded, we watched, live, how Trump and his family announced the upcoming coup d’état moments before the mob broke through the capitol police force. We later learned of the many plans and plots implemented to facilitate the safe entry to the Capitol of these American Militia traitors.
Legislators were named and discovery was provided for everyone involved including how they played a hand in this violent event. This attempt to bring down our government has a huge handprint that extends to senators, congress people, Supreme Court Justices, Cabinet members and dignitaries. People died, others were hurt.
Eight months later we are still hearing about commissions that investigate what we all know and saw happen. The small players have been arrested and face being removed from society yet elected officials that have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution are still holding their legislative seats and getting their checks and benefits as if nothing happened. This is not a show of civility or rule of law. This is a blatant show of disregard for the rule of law and they have the comfort of getting away with murder until they try to take the government down the next time. Donald Trump and his entire clan of traitors must be arrested, put trial and convicted.
How are the people to be expected to uphold our end of the Social Contract in the face of blatant disregard for the safety and laws that rule our land.
We must come together and demand that these traitors pay for their crimes. We need action now.
