The United States Cult of Anti-Intellectualism.

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’ “

It takes a long time to ingest and digest such a concept but as we look closer at the series of events happening in this country from day to day, there is no alternative but to grasp this great truth that Asimov was attempting to warn us about. The evidence is right out in the open that a system is in place meant to dumb down American citizens. This system has been so very successful that a very large group of Americans believe planet Earth is flat. Back to the dark ages they go. This is just one example of many.

Over 50% of our taxpayers money is thrown into the Defense budget and education is left naked with teachers paying out of pocket expenses for supplies.

Ignorance, lack of knowledge and information, breeds fear. Fear seeks security. The Church offers the warmth of superstition to appease these fears and control their minds. Work this cycle long enough and people only know what their religion tells them. This is simple. Plain to see but not so easy to fix. The problem of dumbing down Americans is resistant to knowledge. The dumb appear to be within a comfort zone and do not want to be bothered with facts. We have, sadly, heard how people on their death beds continued to insist that the Pandemic is a hoax. To their last breath that would be all they repeat. Their new death mantra.

We have heard many times throughout our lives that ignorance is bliss. This new ‘strain’ of ignorance will cost us everything unless some remedy is provided soon. All evidence that a Pandemic would kill you, with proof of a building death toll, does not stop college students from their party. This type of ignorance is more, greater, that having or not having formal education. This is denial of another kind. More of the cognitive dissonance type, where your read the label on the cigarette box about cancer, you know it’s real yet cannot override your preconceived dogma that you must smoke to “be a man,” or some other clicker that keeps you doing what is deadly to you.

I’ve watched closely as one side calls the other stupid, inbreeds and other nasty labels. I suspect we are all, at different levels, of this dumbing down which has been fed to us for so long. The first step to breaking away from this poison is becoming aware and safeguarding our children form creating another generation of dumb Americans. Not an easy task telling yourself that you are faulty and must be fixed. I’ve done it. You can do it. We are works in progress so let’s try to become who we want instead of others tools.
