I was a guest at renowned Pastry Chef Emma Sanchez Cardenas’s penthouse apartment for lunch yesterday. Her talent and exquisite taste were viewed everywhere. Her rooftop garden boasts hand-painted stenciled floors and all types of blooms everywhere—delightfully arranged sitting areas creating conversation hubs inviting you to sit and enjoy.

Her kitchen is a chef’s dream, concise, organized, and contains everything you can imagine.

Lunch was served in the penthouse’s first-level dining area. Needless to say that the food was perfect. Spinach salad with fresh blueberries tossed in a homemade french vinaigrette. Our main course was an excellent Italian plate. There were no left over’s. Forget good manners that require leaving a couple of morsels so we don’t come across as piggies. I ate every morsel.

When a Pastry Chef serves dessert you pay close attention to what’s going on. She surprised me with a dessert I had never tasted. I took the picture you see above. Oh my lordy, Pear Pistachio Tart! It was perfect! Each bite was a trip to heaven. I would try to describe it but it’s unique. The flavors and texture of the pears and the distinctive flavor of pistachio married into something sublime.

Emma was kind enough to send me the recipe. I’ll keep you posted on how well I can imitate her art form.

Thank you, Emma, it was wonderful and memorable. Hope to see you soon.
