The Pagan Origins of the Christmas Tree.

I found this short story interesting since I had no idea how the tradition of Christmas trees started.

The tree was brought into the house so the woods spirits would be kept warm during the cold winter months. Food and treats were hung on the branches for the spirits to eat. Bells were hung on the limbs to chime when an appreciative spirit was present. A five pointed star, a pentagon, representing the five elements was placed atop the tree.

A beautiful origin for a beautiful tradition. The part about the five pointed pentagon representing the five elements is my favorite part. Sometime we need to look back in order to see forward.
