We’ve discussed the how and why of meditation and I introduced you to one very significant Mantra with details of its meaning and inner workings.. OM MA NI PAD ME HUM. Here are a couple of additional mantras. It is said that SOUND awakens and moves the universe at a spiritual or electromagnetic level. Scientists have proven via electroencephalograms that repeated chanting alters our brains wavelengths.

About twenty years ago I discovered a website called Wildman Buddhist Meditation and I printed a couple of their pages. The following are Sanskrit Mantras and their meaning. Enjoy. Be free.

SABBE SATAA SUKHI HONTU:

Sabee = all

Sataa = beings

Sukhi = happy, well

Hontu = may they be

Repeat chant 108 times.

OM SHAANTI SHAANTI SHAANTI:

Om = primeval sound

Shaanti = peace

OM MUNI MUNI MAHAAMUNI SHAAKYA MUNI SWAAHAA :

Om, wise one, wise one, greatly wise one, wise one of the Shakyans, Hail!

( sage of Shakyan clan aka Siddhartha Gautama). Keep in mind that we meditate using the know tools seeking peace and enlightenment. We are not endorsing any religious endeavors. Buddhist is a philosophy, a way to live. The longer Mantras feel like a mouthful when you first try them but my experience is that the sounds tend to blend and swim from us to the universe. Enjoy! Be free.
