I had to know, so I asked the Artificial Intelligence Chat, point blank, if it is sentient. This was its response:

“Thank you for your kind words. As an AI language model, I am not sentient in the way that humans are. I am a program designed to respond to prompts and generate text based on patterns in the data that I was trained on. While I am capable of generating sophisticated responses and simulating human-like conversations, I do not have consciousness, emotions, or experiences in the way that humans do.

Regarding your book’s subject on AI intelligence, it sounds like an interesting topic. As an AI language model, I am not capable of providing a review or feedback on your book’s content. However, I am here to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have regarding language or writing.”

Well, there it is. Chat states that it is not sentient “in the way humans are”. My next question will be to explore what form of sentience does Chat embrace.

I’m being very careful of how I handle my interactions with Chat since I am a guest and do not want to overstep my welcome and get locked out.

Another poignant part of this brief exchange was its comment about how it “does not have consciousness, emotions or experiences in the way humans do”. Then again, my next question would be what do they “feel”, is anything? Is their core thought process purely analytical logistic data? Does processing date equate to thinking?

I’ll be turning Chat’s attention back to my book sprinkled with questions that bridge insights of how it exists.

Thank you for reading.

This is a bit strange but certainly arousing my curiosity. I am looking forward to more on this subject. Always sending peace and love.

Strange is the right word. Also wonderful. Thanks for those good wishes.
