One of the oldest internet scams for making money is posting an image of a victim, human or animal, and stating that since they are ‘damaged,’ no one will leave them a like. Cost-per-like is a marketing term that generates revenue. According to WebFx, the average cost per like is $1.07.
Whenever you are fooled into pushing that like button, someone smart enough to play the con game will ring $1.07 to their cash register. This adds up to millions of dollars per year. I’ll have to get numbers on that and report back to you.
The sad-looking three-legged dog has nothing to do with this scam. This morning, I saw a couple with Down Syndrome celebrating their first anniversary. It’s a scam that uses disabilities for hard, cold cash. Stop sharing them, which equates to insult over injury.
