Iowa has a population of 3,046,355 (2010 census). 23% are under 18 years of age. 49.5 percent are male. 50.5 percent are female. This brings us to a population of 2,318,276 adults over 18 years of age. That is all that that Iowa represents.

The total population for the USA is 327,2 million. I won’t boil this down to Iowa:USA ratio but you get what I’m driving at. The Iowa mess is bad and needs to be investigated to the minute detail but it’s still a speck in the ocean.
