Yesterday’s news reported that now 100,000 children are being held captive in camps. If I may add they are concentration camps. The US government has seen it fit to use state hired lawyers to debate in court that we have no legal obligation to supply these children with their basic needs, such as: toothpaste, soap and sanitary napkins. Young girls have been photographed with blood stains on their behinds. The US government pays these “keepers” $750.00 per day per person. Let’s do the math: 100,000 children @ $750.00 / day = $75,000,000.00 ( that’s $75MM). This American Holocaust has been in place for over a year but let’s use the one year timeframe for the purpose of this discussion. $75 Million per day X 365 days = $27,370,000,000.00 per year. In other words this Gestapo is earning 27.4 BILLION dollars per year, paid by us, to enslave and abuse innocent children.

To add insult to injury, when these camps were set up the staff used to guard these children was not vetted. No background checks. Pedophiles and criminals did apply and are in our employment while sexually abusing these children under the great American flag.

The media has also reported that the files that link these children to their parents have been destroyed. Why, I ask? Why? To what purpose?

How can we live within our skin knowing that these atrocities are being committed in our own back yard? I hear no answers. Only silence.

Thank you for this blatant reminder after the refugee story is no longer news. We are so remiss. People must act

    Mark · November 30, 2019 at 9:55 PM

People can act, stop trying to cross our boarders illegally. One picture is of people’s shoes who were detained and murdered for their race not because they were flooding across Germany’s boarders.

      Notanasshatlikemark · February 27, 2020 at 8:14 PM

Wow Mark, you’re a real piece of shit.

Did you know the number one reason people are flooding our borders is because they fear death from local gangster thugs who threaten to kill family members, in order to kidnap and force young girls into prostitution? They have no one to turn to because the corrupt government and police are accomplices to this.

Did you know that, you fuckwad? You human pile of feces, whose best traits were flushed down the toilet.

Did you even bother thinking about the situation one must have to be in to flee your own country?

Naw. You’re too wrapped up in your own bullshit to think about others. Got your head so far up your own ass that you couldn’t tell if someone was fisting you.

      Charlene · February 28, 2020 at 5:03 AM

if the USA had not taken advantage of these contries these people would not be in such a need as to travel with their children for days or weeks through dangerious territory trying to find a safe place to live and work. We are the cause of this migration.

        Queeny1210 · April 12, 2020 at 6:58 PM

        Exactly!

      Maz · March 8, 2020 at 12:11 AM

Gosh what a peach you are. Full of the milk of human kindness. So it’s okay to rape and abuse children in some circumstances, in your view? Like if their parents are fleeing a terrifying regime or seeking a better life for their families. These people are indigenous to the continent you live on. You are not. And if you’re going to moan on about the validity of borders, at least have the grace to learn to spell it.

        Queeny1210 · April 12, 2020 at 6:59 PM

        Maz ?? Right!

      Susan · May 2, 2020 at 8:32 PM

So, how many if the people who are being detained, imprisoned, and some of them murdered, all for crossing our border (most of them legally seeking assylum) are white? You thonk.this has nothing to do with race? Think again.

      David Livingstone · May 10, 2020 at 2:05 PM

How do we make this stop?

Gail Denise Perry · November 22, 2019 at 12:59 PM

With no point of reference to this photo, you don’t know what transpired here. We know what happened at Auschwitz, but there is nothing here to show what is happening at the camps. For all we know, these are donated items that are here for the children and adults who made the trek. I’m sorry, I;m not buying that our border patrol is that corrupt. Perhaps on the Mexican side of the border it is. We can’t just be inflamed by a photo that has no reference or evidence to support these allegations
.

    Mercedes Jenouri · November 23, 2019 at 2:59 PM

So deny, deny, deny. Your choice.

      Amy · November 30, 2019 at 9:51 PM

That’s the problem with bias, you can’t or choose to not believe atrocities

      Wayne Boone · December 1, 2019 at 12:47 PM

As corrupt as this administration is, you can’t believe that our Border Patrol can’t be? Seriously?

Natus Dyer III · December 1, 2019 at 7:35 PM

Denial is an American institution for over 400 years..
This treatment was demonstrated with the native people of North America, with the African slaves, the Japanese during WW II, now the Mexican. .. why is anyone surprised by this behavior

        Tomas · February 27, 2020 at 9:02 AM

Denial is an institution for over 800 years as regards the Irish, I see no mention of it in the article or any replies, why is one holocaust more important than another, the time or age or place of all those heinous crimes does not matter, it is the same believers in the domination of others that have perpetrated those crimes, as long as we elect and venerate these criminals it will not stop.

      Steven · December 11, 2019 at 10:30 PM

Outstanding comment Gail. We’ve seen the “Auschwitz” photos, what is outside the borders of the “Arizona” photo? It’s a picture of shoes. Where was this taken? Who took it? There is no context provided. Mercedes, what is the source for the numbers you provide?

        Shelby · December 21, 2019 at 2:37 PM

Soo….despite the truth of what is going on. Your only focus is a photo? Let me get that straight. You know for a fact children are separated and being held and dying but you are worried that this photo of shoes might not be accurate? FFS! The photos of what went on in concentration camps did not get out until AFTER and we have photos and videos of people being squashed in, a boy dying and lying in his own shit, but this is what bothers you??? You have some audacity.

          Samantha · December 29, 2019 at 9:57 PM

EXACTLY, Shelby. Lets dissect a photo rather than pay attention to the problem. Videos are ignored, and lame argument about pictures are given. Arizona. California. Texas. Where else are immigrant children being held hostage, not getting proper care with people who are not qualified to care for them?

          Wayne Anson · February 27, 2020 at 8:35 PM

Facts got what happened in the German camps made known and documented. To ask for the documents to back up the photo and statistics will allow some of us to get to work behind the screaming rhetoric to reach to rescue the kids. Please don’t assume only negative motives and denial. Labels divide us. Dialogue can bring us back together. Maybe this person is not ignoring the problem. So far it has been hard to find people who are impacting the problem. No one want to identify or acknowledge them. There is an army of us concerned. Too much yelling on all side and every body wanting to scream (and they should) but screaming is not doing. We need fact to get to acts before the election happens. Please.

    Scout · November 24, 2019 at 10:17 AM

The photo is just a symbol representation of what is happening. If you want to discount the photo, that is a fair point. The rest reported in this article is establisthed fact. Our border patrol is acting on the orders they have been given by this administration. Some are horrified and have resigned. Forget the photo. Do you dispute the facts? Are you morally ok with the facts reported here?

      William MacEachern · November 25, 2019 at 11:16 AM

      $750.00 a day!!!
Yet it’s reported that these children go without hygienic needs…
At that price they could be placed in luxurious hotels., meals included…
But, we are not shocked by our government not insuring that their hygiene is not being looked after. Hell, the most important necessity of a well nurtured child is missing on an hourly basis…LOVE of their parents!!

        Trump · November 26, 2019 at 2:03 AM

Bull shit where are these camps let’s go see for ourselves

          Preston Kincaid · December 4, 2019 at 6:03 PM

Not that facts really matter to Trump supporters, but here’s your answer: ICE’s FY 2018 budget,

ICE facilities cost $133.99 a day per adult. According to ICE’s FY 2018 budget, on average it costs $133.99 a day to maintain one adult detention bed. But immigration groups have pegged the number closer to $200 a day.

But as of April, children have been separated from their parents with much higher frequency, which has led to the creation of “tent cities” to hold thousands of separated children. Those beds cost $775 per person per night, HHS told NBC News.

The cost to maintain a family bed, which keeps mothers and children together in a family residential center, costs around $319 a day, according to DHS.

        Doris Pelger · November 30, 2019 at 7:59 PM

Traumata, caused consciously – these kids will fear or hate everything what has anything to do with USA, when they are adults.
I do not understand that this can happen in a country that proclaims that all its current wars (killing millions of people) to bring freedom and democracy – when they are obviously completely unable to honour human rights and democracy in their own country…

        Jo · January 3, 2020 at 6:42 PM

Seems we are not learning from the past…

      Nag · December 1, 2019 at 1:33 AM

Forget the photo? No way. The photo is hate speech. They don’t have soap? Jewish children WERE soap.
      How dare you?

      Jessica · December 1, 2019 at 3:07 AM

      I’m not okay with this

Natus Dyer III · December 1, 2019 at 7:41 PM

Americans have been “MORALLY” OK with this kind of treatment for over 400 years .. but entering the country ILLEGAL IS A CRIME AND A CRIMINAL IS GOING TO ALWAY’S RECIEVE SUBSTANDARD CONDITIONS AND TREATMENT. . I BUT THE BLAME ON THE PARENTS THAT BROUGHT THIER CHILDREN INTO THIS SITUATION BY CROSSING THE BORDER ILLEGAL

        Helen Morgenstern · March 15, 2020 at 7:55 PM

Entering this country illegally has always been a misdemeanor until this administration. There is a difference between an illegal alien, one who sneaks into this country, and a refugee, one who presents himself to authorities at the border seeking refuge from an untenable situation in their home country, asking for help. That’s what these people are, and there’s a different procedure for that. Trump’s administration has intentionally labeled them incorrectly so they can treat them as criminals. As for the children, the parents brought them in. The children are not guilty of anything and treating them inhumanely is wrong and shows a callas disregard for humanity by this administration. We don’t treat our murderers and rapists in prison this way, they get beds and food and clean clothes. Trump and his cronies are the criminals and if justice prevails, they will end up in prison.

      Peter T Pidrak · December 2, 2019 at 11:27 AM

Do you realize this number has been completely disproven.

It comes from a study from 2015.

It involves every child held in custody for any length of time.

        Maz · March 8, 2020 at 12:18 AM

Oh well, so long as it’s just a couple of hundred kids being abused, raped, separated from their parents, that’s okay by you?

    LJRoberts · November 30, 2019 at 12:48 PM

We don’t know what is happening, because Trump’s government won’t allow anyone to know. Senators have been denied entry. Health care workers have been denied entry. If things errefine, we should see pictures, but we don’t. Trump is committing an official crime against humanity and you are not only excusing him, but enabling him.

    Barbara Wilt · November 30, 2019 at 2:21 PM

So you don’t follow the news that has been talking constantly about the crap Trump and his cronies are pulling against small children. There have been constant news articles about this and lots of photos showing the horrors. Surprising that you don’t deny the Holocaust, too.

    Such a good little complicit Trumpling… ???

They are NO DIFFERENT than Hitler’s Concentration Camps, nor are Drumpf’s reasons any more virtuous. The Fake king just isn’t that far into the process, but he’s stuck to his predecessor’s blueprint down to the smallest detail.

Soon enough, there will be Death Camps. Then you will begin noticing people inexplicably disappearing from your circle of friends, neighbors, co-workers…

Hell, maybe even YOU will vanish, Gail. You ARE female. Do you work? Own property? Use birth control? How about standing up and voicing your opinion, having boundaries, expecting respect, or believe you should not have to have sex with any male whose eye you catch at the meat market, which covers anywhere and everywhere.

But sure, keep your eyes and ears firmly shut. Ignore the screams and protests of those being wronged and oppressed. How unfortunate for you that you lack both historical knowledge, but morals as well.

Good luck with getting any help when your turn comes around, as it eventually will.

    Emily · November 30, 2019 at 10:49 PM

Do you know what they called the Germans who stood by and did nothing as the Nazi’s committed their crimes against humanity? NAZIS. History shows no distinction between them because they had to do nothing for the Nazis to be able to do what they did.

      Kathe · December 16, 2019 at 9:49 AM

You would be wrong. There ARE shops in Mexico and things are cheaper there. Don’t be ignorant. I grew up in a border town and to assume that those kids have never received a name-brand pair of shoes is ridiculous. We’re not better than them.

    Kathe · December 16, 2019 at 9:46 AM

It’s not “border patrol” it’s CoreCiciv. It’s the prison system that is managing the camps on the border. The prison system was failing because of the changing drug laws and needed a new population. They went South and found them. Promised them better lives if they sought asylum in the US. Then incarcerated them. Now they’re charging the American people DAILY for each of them. We are paying to keep innocent people in jail because CoreCivic donated a million to Trump’s campaign.

Liz Butler: There is no exaggeration. No employee of these concentration camps is paid $750.00 dollars per day. $750.00 dollars is the overall cost of detention – food, salaries, transportation, prison guards, paltry medical services, etc. – PER CHILD.

Yes, the USA is now running concentration camps, to our everlasting shame. But the photo comparison itself is beyond offensive and obscene. The Auschwitz photo is of the shoes taken off the DEAD BODIES OF GASSED Jews. Comparing that to the Arizona photos is spitting on the (mass) graves of those Auschwitz victims.

Daniel, I agree whole heartedly with you. If I could report this paragraph to someone I would. The offense of using Shoah images so casually cannot be understated.

Eva Dixon · December 26, 2019 at 9:52 PM

Well, if I haven’t been upset about anything this year, I am now. I resent to compare to Auschwitz to Arizona, and I do not care about the reason behind it. Somewhere among those shoes in Auschwitz is 14 pairs of my grandparents, my aunts, uncles and their families shoes. They all went to take a “shower” and ended up in the crematorium. This is a total disrespect of those who perished during the Holocaust of WWII. While there were other events that should consider as Holocaust, such as the Armenian massacres/race related killings and there was also Rwanda, nothing could be compared as what has taken place in Auschwitz, Dachau, Mauthausen, Bergen Bergen, and the list goes on and on.

Eva, I agree with you. I am really sick to death of people casually using the shoah to make their points, without EVER taking a moment to bear witness to the horrors of the shoah’s victims and survivors. Thank you.

I do have to ask the author of this incredibly brief paragraph article what their purpose is in leveraging off of Auschwitz. Your point is rightly made, and yet I do not enjoy that every genocide must leverage patently off of the horror and miseries suffered by Jewish and other people, too often without paying heart-based moments to witness that horror. Indeed, too often there is underlying such useage some sick jealousy that the extreme hard work of survivors finally got the Holocaust recognized in the 70’s, tho already being denied and not well taught by the 90’s….

The atrocities at the borders will be remembered. The fact that all US prisons are punitive institutions undergirds the culture of these “camps” being funded at our borders.
