1913 marks the birth of one of the most important woman in the history of civil rights. I have seen pictures of Rosa Parks thousands of times throughout my lifetime and each and every time my mind speaks out and says; ” She’s so pretty.” Her beauty is complete, inside and out, streaming from her heart and those deep, knowing eyes. How I wish I had met her in the flesh. But, here we are remembering that peaceful, lonely figure sitting in that bus, which wanted to mark her as less and her refusal to stand. She stood tall for everyone, regardless of your phenotype. She sat and stood for equality and dignity so that you and I can have a better life. I thank you Rosa and we celebrate your gift each and every day. Happy Birthday Sweetie, Know that we love you.
