Masking in Psychology is a process in which an individual changes or “masks” their natural personality to conform to social pressures, abuse, and / or harassment. An individual may not even know that he or she is wearing a mask because it is a behavior that can take many forms.

We wear them to hide our identity, or become someone else for a little while. Technology has become another mask we use to hide behind, to protect ourselves and sometimes to impress and entice others.

A mask is an ancient form of expressive facial disguise. It was used to frighten enemies and contain identity. In modern day the mask is generally known to be a symbol of the concealment of the ego behind the artificial mask.

Can you tell yourself apart from your mask? From your many masks? it’s worth discovering yourself.
